Train Them 2 Fish encountered disabled people begging on the streets of Bukavu. Some of them needed to be carried on the back of their friends going around the city for begging. 11 disabled people and 4 single parent ladies were recruited to be trained in sewing so that they may become self-supporting.
Salome was one of the handicapped ladies who came to the training center. When she first came, she was not able to afford her living costs. She said that she could hardly get four meals per week, nor able to get money to rent a humble home. After six months training at the center in Bukavu/D R Congo, she received a donation of a sewing machine and started her own sewing business.
After ten months of running her own business with the donated sewing machine, she reported that she is now able to rent her own house without any problem, and she can feed herself every day. She is now investing some funds to buy a piece of land where she can build a house. Salome decided to contribute some time to training other handicapped people at TT2F’s sewing center every day from 6:00 am to 12:00 and work at her own business center every afternoon except on Sabbath even though she has not decided to become a Seventh -day Adventist believer.
If the Holy Spirit touches your heart to be part of this ministry of compassion, you can donate one sewing machine for $120 or $2,700 to train 10 people within six months.
People who desperately need your help to develop skills to become independent.
The lady in the middle of the picture above is Salome.
This is a picture of Salome smiling on the right, while attending her first class at the humble training center.
Salome is now no longer a beggar, she helps train others.
